I wish to go to Italy to meet the pope
Joshua picked up a new phrase when Maggiano’s Tampa threw him a going-away party: he can now tell the pope “Nice to meet you” (“Piacere di conoscerti”) in Italian when he meets him during his Make-A-Wish® trip. His server, Vincenzo, felt a connection the Joshua’s wish because he came from Sicily.
The table where the party was held was decked out in Italian gear, starting from the tablecloth up. As a surprise, a special spread was delivered to the table for dessert, featuring many Italian delicacies. There were two types of tiramisu – original and berry – fresh fruits, cheesecake, chocolate covered cake balls and strawberries and ice cream intricately carved to look like flowers. Joshua’s mom was very impressed with the dessert, saying, “I especially want to say how much we appreciated and enjoyed devouring the beautiful dessert that was prepared for us by the chef! It was almost too beautiful to eat … almost!”
To top off the perfect dinner, Maggiano’s provided Joshua with a portable DVD player and travel supplies that he would be able to use to stay entertained and comfortable on the plane. His pre-Italy farewell party was a preview of the hospitality he would receive in Italy just a few days later. Thanks to Maggiano’s, Joshua was excited to board a plane to Italy and practice his new phrase with everyone – especially the pope.
