“Sherrell is my niece. She was born with pulmonary and tricuspid atresia which required her to have three major heart surgeries very early in her life.  At the age of four, the clinic staff at Sherrell’s cardiologist office recommended her to Make-A-Wish . My niece’s wish to go to the Florida theme parks was granted shortly thereafter.. Make-A-Wish provided everything – airfare, accommodation for the family and a rental car. They were given badges so they didn't have to wait in line, and a variety of many other accommodations and gifts.  Make-A-Wish spared no expense to make it a memorable experience. My family is truly thankful and is forever grateful for the blessing Make-A-Wish gave Sherrell.”

“In 2006 my cousin, Lindsay, who suffers from sickle cell anemia and acute liver disease, had her wish granted to publish a book. Ever since she was a little girl, she loved to write. A few years prior to having her wish granted, Lindsay had written several short stories, and the book she later chose to publish started as a summer writing assignment. It turned into so much more. She has battled her way through a liver transplant and multiple surgeries to continue following her passion for writing. Now 25 years-old (with a birthday right before World Wish Day®), she continues to write and teach literature at Syracuse University where she is also a Masters candidate. I’m very proud of her. Her strength and courage fuels and reinforces my dedication to Make-A-Wish.”
